Florida RUS, Inc. publishes Florida Russian Magazine since January 1, 2001. It was founded in November of 2000 by a well known Russian and Belarussian journalist and editor, Alexander Rossin. Today, the magazine’s creative team of professionals also includes Julia A. Rossina – Marketing Director, Victor Kurov – designer and Vadzim Tomkavich – web master.
Since it’s first issue Florida Russian Magazine became extremely popular in the Russian speaking community of South Florida, as well as among tourists who came to visit. The magazine contains a variety of advertisements: job offers, buy/sell, business, personal, classified ads, information about cultural events, as well as a phone directory of Russian businesses. In addition to advertising, the magazine includes articles, essays, short stories, novels and reports on a local and international level. Many talented Russian speaking authors and artists who live in the U.S., Russia, Israel, Belarus, Ukraine, Germany, France, Georgia, Australia, Chech Republic and many other countries have been published on the pages of Florida Russian Magazine. Many of whom are well known and respected in the literature world, and some who have been introduced for the first time. Under the heading „New name” the magazine publishes authors that are unknown to anybody and takes pride in discovering new literaly talents. This gives „Florida” a leading role and recognition among other world class Russian literature publications. In 2009 the name of the magazine was among the prizewinners of Victor Astafiev foundation. Moreover, the Publishing House „Retro” honored „Florida” by allowing the rights for the first publication of the novel „The slave” by Nobel prize winner Issac Bashevis Singer.
The verbal presentations of the magazine also contribute greatly to its popularity in Russian speaking community of South Florida. The verbal presentations are informal gatherings of people that usually take place in different restaurants of Miami. Famous writers and poets, as well as musicians, artist, politicians and scientists of former USSR speak in front of people and the audience is given the opportunity to ask questions.
„Florida. Russian Magazine” is a free publication is distributed through the Russian food stores (in Miami, Hallandale, Hollywood, Ft. Lauderdale and Boca Raton areas) and Russian business offices (such as dental, lawyer, body shops and so forth).
